MKACyber was founded in 2010 by Mischel Kwon, the former director of US-CERT, with the vision to improve security operations for enterprises and U.S. federal government agencies. We are a venture-backed, rapidly expanding startup that helps our customers address security operations challenges by performing security operations center (SOC) assessments, SOC builds and rebuilds, and we provide a Managed Security Operations Service (MSSP). Our team has elite SOC expertise and partners with our customers to provide a business-first, balanced approach to security operations. At our core we are focused on helping our customers connect the SOC to their business.
Throughout the company’s history we have partnered with Fortune 1000 commercial organizations, as well as some of the largest agencies in the U.S. Federal Government to help them change the way they approach security operations by implementing a mission-focused, repeatable SOC methodology.
Created from over 35 years of real-world experience, MKACyber’s W@tchTower™ high-touch SOC methodology helps organizations achieve a strong, defensive operational cybersecurity program that keeps security costs down, improves detection of cyber incidents, reduces vulnerabilities, and articulates your risk in terms that resonate with business-focused leadership. MKACyber assists our customers in assessing their SOC capabilities, building and improving their security posture, and providing MSSP solutions. With the development of the W@tchTower MSSP SaaS platform, we provide a consistent and comprehensive, high-touch SOC for our customers.
The MKACyber Board of Directors and Advisory Board is filled with cybersecurity experts. Throughout her 35+ year career in the public and private sector, Mischel Kwon, has worked in roles ranging from application design and development to network architecture and deployment to information assurance policy, audit and management to technical defensive security, large wireless system security, to building organizational and national level Computer Emergency/Incident Response/Readiness Teams. Ms. Kwon has held prominent positions within the federal government, to include the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), where she built and deployed the Justice Security Operations Center (JSOC), she also served as the Director of the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) where she led US-CERT’s mission of national-level protection of the cyber critical infrastructure.
